YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE 2019
CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL OF STORIES!
The mission of Denver’s Children’s Festival of Stories is to promote literacy, celebrate children’s books and share the joys of reading. Through this event, we aim to provide literacy experiences for young readers, offering them opportunities to engage with all of you Authors, Illustrators and Storytellers.
We have committed to keeping this a FREE event in order to provide access to all children.
This year we are incorporating an Around the World of Stories theme into the festival.
Each child who attends the festival will receive an Around the World of Stories passport.
The passport will include a space for each author, illustrator, event, and activity that is being presented at the festival.
Kids are encouraged to travel around the world of the festival to meet all the authors and illustrators and
get their passport stamped each time they visit a new author, or participate in an activity or event.
We are hoping the passport will help put kids in front of authors and illustrators and show them that they all have a story to tell and are capable of telling their own stories if that is something they want to do.

What is the Tunes & Tales interview?
Tunes & Tales is a radio show featured on 88.9 KRFC in Colorado. The show airs every other Sunday at 6PM MST. This show is written and produced for kids by Kristen Olsen. On this show kids hear stories read out-loud by published picture book, middle grade and
YA authors.
Each interview will last 20 Minutes
For Picture Book authors/illustrators Kristen will need a digital copy of their recorded book with written permission to play on air.
(She can send an example and work with you on getting permission from your publisher if needed.)
If you don't have a recorded book you will be recorded reading from your book with Kristen.
For Middle Reader authors/illustrators you'll be recorded reading a passage from your book.
Following the reading, Kristen will conduct an interview based on your website and any additional information you’ve provided before the festival.
We will contact you after you've opted to participate in the interview with instructions
regarding where to send your book (recorded or hard copy) and any additional information you want to cover in the interview.
